Monday 10th June - Kembs

We will be staying here for at least three nights as fairly constant rain is predicted for the next few days and although now we can have our complete canopy up (no more low bridges!) it’s never pleasant cruising in heavy rain.
Skip went into town looking for a boulangerie- without luck!  It is about a 2 km run to a supermarket and boulangerie........Crew doesn’t do running!!  However he did discover that one of the two restaurants was open today, both for lunch and dinner, so we decided to dodge the showers and go for it for lunch.
City Grill furnished us with a passable lunch at a reasonable price and we made it back to the port without getting too wet.  We adjourned to Aphrodites’ ‘conservatory’ for digestifs and Henk making loops on Crews’ new ropes - we bought four new main lines for forward and aft and then 16 fender ropes.  He finished the last two main ropes.......just 16 to go!!
We retired for a siesta, then Crew got the ironing done.  The rain was now heavier and more persistent now - even so we tried to get the TV going.....it wasn’t liking it much but was more or less watchable until the rain became even heavier.  So we had to resort to DVDs, although the sound is not as loud as the TV programmes and the noise of the rain made listening very difficult!
