Another lovely lie in for Crew - could get used to this! Although it was expensive to moor here €2 per metre, which adds up to €26 per night, we decided to stay for two nights.
The weather was disappointing and not as forecast - rain on and off and not too warm. About midday, as it was a little brighter, Skip went into town for supplies. A lovely town with a beautiful square, full of bars and cafes. Henk was not feeling 100% so we lunched alone on Aphrodite.
Crew is happy to report that a new chick has hatched - the mother revealed the whole nest and the count was now 4 chicks but, alas, only two eggs left. The father was still busy foraging for food for them all. The chicks are venturing out from the nest too - strangely, they have red heads with a little orange plumage. Presumably that develops into the familiar plumage of a coot. One of them fell through the gap in the pallet where the nest is, which gave both the father and Crew some very anxious minutes, until he eventually managed to clamber back to the nest and scuttle for cover underneath the mother. Wonderful to be able to watch so closely!
Henk appeared after lunchtime and declared himself fit enough to go shopping and returned with a bottle of Asbach, a German brandy, for us.
We contemplated going out to dinner but decided that some chicken we had needed using up. TV still not a very good reception so another DVD - The Crown. A quiet day!
