Cruising Plan 2017.2

Epernay is our furthest point on this trip and we will now retrace our steps back down the canal de l'Aisne a la Marne l
Day 32 Epernay to Conde sur Marne 21k 4 locks
From Conde we take the right fork down the canal lateral a la Marne
Day 33 Conde to Chalon 17k 3 locks
Day 34 Chalon to Vitry le Francois  8locks 31k
Day 35 We now turn right down the Canal de la Marne a la Soane
also known as canal entre Champagne et Bourgogne
155k up to Langres 71ocks  which is the summit
Through the Balesmes Tunnel then the 69k 43 locks to Heuilley sur Soane
Vitry to Saint Dizier 30k 11 locks
Day 36 St Dizier to Joinville 32k  14 locks
Day 37 Joinville to Froncles 33k 8 locks
Day 38 Froncles to Chaumont 25k 10 locks
Day 39 Chaumont to Rolampoint  28k 14locks
We are travelling through a rural area of France so suspect not too many restaurants available!
Day 40 Rolampoint to Langres 10k  7locks ..an easier day
Day 41
Langres to Dommarien  2locks in we reach the Tunnel de Balesmesmes  which is almost 5k long
then a stretch of 15locks in 10k!
so a 17lock day 25k
Day 42 Dommarien to Cusey 8k  7locks
Day 43 Cusey to Reneve 33k  16locks
I suspect we will find a mooring space during the route  but the maps show none with electric or shops!
Day 44 Reneve to Pontailler Sur Soane
 4locks 10k and we reach the Soane and civilization
so 3locks 13k
we like Pontailler even though it is small tight marina and may have to stay outside
Day 45 Pontailler to St Jean
It is  17k 1 lock to Auxonne where we might stop if a space otherwise we will move on 19k 1lock back to base

Cruising Plan 2017.1

Having Reached Rhineau
we now will take the Rhine itself up to Strasbourg Day 13 30k into the SE corner of Strasbourg
Our preference would now be to moor at the Port de L'Hospital which is another 6k 1lock into town.
5 years ago there was no space and we squeezed into Koejac  Yacht Club now renamed Europe Boat Trading on the Quai des Belges.
Once we leave Strasbourg on Day 14 we take Canal de la Marne au Rhin Est
assuming we moor at Port de L'Hospital then 4k 1 lock to the canal
 we then pass the European Parliament and move onto Souffeelweyersheim 2more locks 10k

Day 15 Souffelweyersheim  to Waltenheim 17k 6locks
No electricity
Day 16 Waaltenheim to Saverne 21k 12locks and is where we were joined by Gary and Tina last time Day 17 Saverne to Lutzelbourg  10k 10locks
Day 18 Lutzelbourg to Niderviller  12k
5locks to the inclined slope  where are mechanically lifted up the incline in a giant bath

then through 2 tunnels Niderviller and Arzviller
We are at the top of the navigation
Day 19 Niderviller ,passing the Canal de la Sarre onto Port St Marie pk216 .. 4locks 31k
Day20 Port Ste Marie,toParroy 6locks 16k
Day 21 Parroy to Nancy  11locks 34k

Day 22 Nancy to Toul
8k with no locks we turn left towards Toul rather than take the Moselle to Metz
21k along the Moselle 1 lock we take a right into Canal de la Marne au Rhin west section
3locks 2k we hope to moor in Port de France pk130 ..31k 5locks
Day 23Leaving Toul upstream with a long chain of 13locks through the Foug tunnel to Pagny sur Meuse pk 116 ..13locks 14k
Day 24 Leaving Pagny 5k to the confluence of the Canal d'est we turn left another 7kto Void then a chain of 12locks in 10k to the summit followed by the Mauvages tunnel nearly 5k long then after locking through at Demange we moor for the night  13locks 31k
The tunnel is one way so you have to alternate passages through and we have to arrive before 10.30for our passage so an early start!
Day 25 Going down but 21 locks in 22k to Ligny en Barrois
Day 26Ligny to Bar Le Duc 16k 15locks
Day27 Bar Le Duc to Pagny 26k 28locks ..I hope we can find a pontoon mooring along this stretch but nothing showing in the Fluviacartes
Day 28 Pargny to Vitry le Francois 19k 6locks


Vitry  le Francois is the confluence of 3 canals
the canal de la Marne au Rhin which we have just navigated
le Canal lateral a la Marne up to Epernay
and Canal de la Marnea la Soane which we will take back to St Jean
Day 29 Vitry to Chalon  en Champagne
8 locks 31k
Day 30 Chalon to Mareuil sur Ay
5locks 27k
Day 31 Mareuil to Epernay
2locks and 8kwe reach the d'embranchement d'Epernay and 5k to the marina where lasttime were treated to a glass of champagne on arrival and has a tennis court (13k 2 locks)

Cruising Plan 2017
The plan for 2017 is to cruise up the Canal du Rhone au Rhin  to Mulhouse, then Colmar ,then take the Rhine to Strasboug .
Then turn left along the canal de la Marne au Rhin to Nancy ,Toul to Vitry le Francois picking up the Canal lateral a la Marne to Epernay
We will then retrace our steps to Vitry but then continue on the canal de la Marne a la Soane via Chaumont back to St Jean de Losne


First part
Canal du Rhone au Rhin  Day 1 St Jean to Dole
4k along the Soane to St Symphorien to enter the Rhone au Rhin 8locks to Dole
23k 8locls
Day2 Dole to Ranchot  5 locks 20k
Day3 Ranchot to Besancon 10locks  31k
Day4 Besancon to Baume les Dames 9 locks 35k
Day5 Les Baumes to L'Isle  sur le Doubs  13locks  31k
Day6 L'Isle to Montbeliard  12locks 33k
Day7 Montebeliard to Montreux Chateau 12locks 21k o reach the top ogf the navigation
Day8 Montreux to Dannemarie  15locks  11k
Day9 Dannemarie to Mulhouse 24locks 23k


Day 10 16k 2locks to the Canal  d'Alsace  France

We can moor At Kembs or Alsace Plaisance

We now leave the canal du Rhone au Rhin and head north on the Grand Canal  d'Alsace and the River Rhine
to your portside Germany to  your starboard
Day 11 Niffer Kembs to Breisach 3locks and 41k to Biesheim
We might then take the excursion to Colmar and back  23k 3locks otherwise we enter the Rhine with heavy industrial traffic
Day 12 42k and 2 locks arrive at Rhineau
Last time e then entered the canal du Rhone au Rhin (branche Nord) to Strasbourg  but it was a slow boring trip so will now continue on the Rhine to Strasbourg but need to do more research on finding suitable mooring
